- ⚽️ THE LEGENDARY STADIUM LA BOMBONERA, HOME OF MARADONNA’S BELOVED BOCA JUNIORS ⭐️ -
.
.
« For football fans, no trip to BA is complete without visiting the Bombonera stadium, or Estadio Alberto J. Armando, as it’s officially called, home to Maradona’s beloved Boca Juniors and often considered the stadium with the most intense, passionate atmosphere in the world. The stadium is just a stone’s throw from the famous Caminito of La Boca and is known as La Bombonera (« the chocolate box ») owing to its unusual ‘D’ shape and steep sides, which give it incredible acoustics. The stands are very close to the pitch, with only a small space separating the fans from the field of play, which makes for an unbeatable atmosphere at matches.
.
The stadium was inaugurated on May 25 1940. Look out for the murals Pérez Celis, Rómulo Macció and Quinquela Martín in the entrance and exterior of the stadium, and check out the stadium’s museum, the Museo de la Pasión Boquense, open daily from 10am-6pm, to learn about the history of the club. »

- 🎨 HISTORICAL& EMBLEMATIC QUARTER OF LA BOCA 🎨 -
.
.
« Located in La boca, the Caminito (little path, in Spanish) is a street museum of colourful painted houses typical of the immigrant dwellings that came to chracterise this portside area towards the end of the 19th and start of the 20th century.
.
The Caminito followed the route of an old stream that once flowed into the Riachuelo, and later, after the river dried up, formed part of a railroad route. After the closure of the railroad, the street was largely abandoned until in the 1950s a group of neighbours decided to regenerate the area and local artist Benito Quinquela Martín began using the tenements as his canvas.
.
Today, there are several works by Argentine artists incorporated as part of the street museum and the Caminito has become a favourite with visitors to the city. Several restaurants offer tango and folk dance shows and street fills with artists offering original crafts and paintings.
.
The tenement buildings made of wood and sheet metal are typical of the conventillos, precarious, communal dwellings built by Genoan immigrants starting in the late 19th century. Many dwellings are built on raised foundations due to frequent floods in the past. »

- 🇦🇷 BEAUTIFUL CASA ROSADA 🌹-
.
.
« After several renovations and constructions this building came to house the executive power during the presidency of Bartolomé Mitre (1862-68), although it didn’t yet have its distinct colour, which is thought to originally have stemmed from the use of animal blood mixed with lime in the paint.
The first person to step out on to the central balcony was Julio A. Roca (president in 1880-1886 and 1898-1904), who made the gesture a tradition for the presidents that followed him. In 1886 the building was connected to the neighbouring central post office building by means of the central arch, which was designed by architect Francisco Tamburini, giving the building the structure it maintains to this day. The newly complete building was officially inaugurated in 1898. »

- 🇦🇷 GUIDED TOUR OF THE NATIONAL CONGRES 🇦🇷 -
.
.
« This neoclassical building is home to the two houses of the Argentine legislature - the senate and the chamber of deputies. Designed by architect Victor Meano, it took almost 50 years to complete. Work began in 1898, and, although the building was inaugurated in 1906, work continued for another 40 years, with Belgian sculptor Jules Dormal taking over the project after Meano was murdered by his butler.
.
The building, in the Italian academic style of the late 19th century, is made largely from limestone, with a 80m-high bronze-plated dome - one of the largest in the city, and allegorical statues designed by Argentine sculptor Lola Mora. »
